Desperately Seeking Susan and Elbow Grease

I'm seriously going to try and start posting more frequently again. I can no longer blame my lame laptop for my absence. It's time for me to suck it up and use the darn thing that I paid too much money for.
Now, to the meaning of the title of this post. Today is Friday. Today I was supposed to take my BFF whose name happens to be "Susan" on a little road trip for her 35th birthday. Susan is always one upping me on gift giving so I thought really long and hard about what I could do for her for her birthday this year which is coming up in Feb. Then, it hit me like a ton of bricks. Susan is in love with Krispy Kreme (however the heck you spell that) doughnuts. So, I got online and found that there was a store about 1 1/ 2 hours away in Lexington, Kentucky. I called her and we immediately made plans to drop our kids off at school this morning and take our two youngest kids with us and hit the road and drive all the way to Lexington, just for a dozen or two of doughnuts. I told her that we could shop a little too to keep the little ones from killing each other in the back seat. That was my first mistake. I never should have spoken my plans outloud. It never fails that since our children have been born that if we plan to do something together, something always happens. We have a terrible winter storm, the roads are terrible. There was a four year old boy killed in a motor vehicle accident on the interstate this morning. There was no way that we could go. We have promised each other that we will the first Friday that we have good enough weather.
I have came to the conclusion that my body lacks the ability to produce elbow grease. I can try and try to scrub things and I just can't get them as clean as other people do. Why is this? Do other people suffer from this and more importantly can I draw as disability check for this?
So, today was my day off and I had promised myself when I got up this morning that I would not be mean to the kids. This is sometimes hard for me as I tend to be a hateful person by nature. I fed them a nice home cooked breakfast and nearly lost four of my fingers in a gravy attack on the stove top. They barely ate any of the food. I then built them a tent in the t.v. room, put on a movie and made them some mixed treats. They were all excited until they saw that they didn't like any of the treats. Maybe this explains why these things have been in my pantry for a while. I then proceeded to do something that I have been fighting off for 3 weeks now. I ate some funyons. Cooper insisted on having these things about three weeks ago and he only ate them once. I have been babying them in my pantry ever since. I've made sure that they were always rolled down so that they wouldn't get stale. I've been trying to reduce my caloric intake so I have fought off this temptation for three weeks now and BOOM, today I could fight them off no more. Those little round, crispy oniony bites of heaven were yelling at me to eat them. I immediately felt guilty and had the lingering onion breath to taunt me and remind me of my going off the deep end with regards to caloric intake. I managed to eat three biscuits and jelly sandwiches while typing this blog. Oh my gosh, I've lost it. Thanks for reading! Don't tell Robert about the break over. He is not sympathatic with me at all when it comes to my eating.
I will be so sad if the ice kills my sweetbay magnolia tree.
This is supposed to be my pool :(

View from my front porch

View of my tree that has bitten the dust due to ice.

Picture of the kids in the tent. Check out the mad faces. They have just looked in their treat bowls and they are mad at me :) They generally do not like me, even when I am trying to be a good mom.

Before they get there treats. Check out the pigs. The movie that they chose to watch was Charlotte's Web

The terrible sweet treats.

You're the best! I haven't blogged in a week and a half. Hopefully tonight I will. I LOVE that you made them a tent and those treats? They aren't as yucky as I imagined them before I saw the pic! We've been iced in for three days today the girls were able to go back to school. Woo Hoo! Have a great weekend, friend! :)

Laughing so hard! Just the fact that you used FOUR blankets to build them a cozy tent, makes you Mom of THE YEAR!

I will not taunt you with our lovely weather in the face of your obvious Winter-induced depression. However, you are ALWAYS welcome to come visit us in Sunny AZ!
